Megan asked: I’m on the cheer squad and we are EXTREMELY down on money like many of the sports at my school. we are not allowed to sell foods such as pasteries but we can sell lollipops, but we’re doing that already. The carwashes that we do don’t raise a lot of money for football or cheer.
What’s an fundraiser idea that high school sports can afford money to use buses, buy new mats, go on trips, etc.?

Renee asked: When I say unusual sports I don’t mean anything REALLY weird, but sports other than the average basketball and football.
I had a family friend tell me about someone who had had been on a rowing team in high school and got a scholarship into a really great school! I know that playing an unusual sport won’t necessarily get you into a better college but does it help at all?
Also, I’ve had trouble even finding a rowing team for students that are high school aged in Maryland. Any suggestions?

I’ve recently become interested in becoming an officall for high school footbal games, mostly interested in football, but wouldn’t mind doing other high school sports including little league and pop warner, not sure where to begin?

laremyz asked:
I did play sports in high school and it was fun! BUT…….
Only a small amount of students take part in high school sports programs. Or allowed to if they make the cut! Yet each school has a sports complex the same size as (or bigger than) the actual school buildings! The class rooms are stuffed or over stuffed.
Way more money seems to be spent on the few who play games then on the students actual educations.
Do sports programs exist at the EXPENCE of EDUCATIONAL programs?
Does sports take up 10%, 25%, 50% of the schools buget? How much?
There are academic scolerships for every thing! You can even get one for being left handed! And you do not have to have an A average to get many of them.

Bea asked:
I have never participated in high school sports and I’ve always wanted to do track and cross country but never got the chance to. Although, I am attending this high school in college program where I attend community college and receive both high school and college credits at the same time but I can still join high school activities. Is it even worth it? Or do other things such as community service and jobs too as important to them?

mikej2390 asked:
I am thinking of getting covering some local high school sports games for my local newspaper to get experience while still in college. The problem is, I have no experience writing sports articles. Does anyone have any advice or help that they could give me on how to write the column? Such as do I need to keep track of the players stats or do I get all the stats afterwards from a score keeper? I would appreciate any help.

soggyaugie asked:
My school is considering having live video webcast of their high school sports games. Is it possible to put the webcast on your own website? Do you need software to have a webcast or what program do you use? Finally, is it possible to have the score at one of the corners? Thanks!
